BioGuard - Balance Pak 100

Total Alkalinity in pool water acts as a buffer against pH change. Low total alkalinity may be a result of the make-up of source water or other chemicals used in the maintenance of the pool. This helps prevent pool staining, plaster etching or liner wrinkling. Low total alkalinity can make it difficult to keep the pH in balance and cause the water to become corrosive. Balance Pak 100 raises the total alkalinity to help prevent these problems.

    Our resident chemical expert says:
    BioGuard Balance Pak 100 is an alkalinity increaser.  Alkalinity level is very important to your pool.  Low alkalinity can etch plaster and corrode your equipment.  I always keep an extra box on hand for when we get some really big rains.  The rain in my area has a PH of only 6.3 and the alkalinity is only 40.  You need to adjust the alkalinity in the water before you adjust the PH because the PH always follows alkalinity.  All you have to do is add it directly to the pool with the pump running.
