BioGuard Stabilizer 100 is granular and totally soluble and it significantly reduces the loss of chlorine due to the effects of the sun. It effectively holds chlorine in the water to kill algae and bacteria, which will reduce maintenance costs and chlorine consumption.
Our Resident Chemical Expert says:
We call it stabilizing, others call it conditioning. Either way you are putting a sunscreen on your pool. Unstable chlorines like chlorine shocks and liquid chlorine have a life of about 3 hrs. in a pool when the sun is out. That's why you shock the pool at night to give it longer to work before the sun comes back out. If you don't use it, you can go from a chlorine level of 3 PPM to 0 in about 3 hours. Talk about expensive! With Stabilizer 100 all you have to do is broadcast the product into the pool and brush it up a few times. Helps keep your chlorine levels as stable as possible. Another good thing is that you don't have to keep adding the product. Once a season should be enough with just a top off at the beginning of next season. Do not vacuum or backwash the pool for 48 hrs.
