Very cool product. I've used it for years in my above ground pool. The top layer is your chlorine "silk" tablet and the second layer takes the place of the shock, so it's rather like getting two products in one. It's so easy! It does have one drawback, though. If you have a larger pool, you may need more than one tablet at a time and you need to make sure that blue layer is in the water so it can dissolve. It takes four tabs per 10,000 gals of water, so you may have to put in a couple, let the blue dissolve for two hrs. and then add the next two. You can even do that in two steps a day apart. The best thing for me was that I didn't have to shock each week, unless of course the temps are in the 90's or you have an overload of bathers. Then like any other pool, you need to do an extra shock
