Optimize the program!! This product helps all BioGuard programs work more efficiently. It buffers the water and helps keep the water balanced. You have to work less to keep the water balanced as swimmers and rain affect it.
Our Resident Chemical Expert Says:
This is my FAVORITE product. If you really want to keep your water clear and soft all season long, you should try Optimizer Plus. I've had this product in my pool since BioGuard started testing it (about twelve years now) and I wouldn't own a pool without it. It's a little costly starting out, taking 2.5 lbs. per 1000 gal. of water plus 1.25 lbs. of Lo 'N Slo (or one gallon of Muriatic Acid per 20 lbs. Optimizer Plus). Not only is it like "swimming through silk" (quote from a customer) but I haven't had algae or cloudy water in twelve years. Since it only needs to be replaced when it's either splashed out or emptied out through backwash or draining, you shouldn't ever have to add that large initial dose again. I can't tell you how many of our customers thank us for letting them know about this product! It's not something you have to do, but it sure makes taking care of a pool a pleasure. You can add it at any time during the season, but if you think you'd like to try it, why not begin enjoying that feeling right away plus the water is so clear you can read a dime on the bottom of the pool!
Now we can add the Optimizer. It's a really HIGH PH product. For a 10,000 gal. pool you need to add 25 lbs. of Optimizer Plus and 13 lbs. of Lo 'N Slo (or 1 gal. Muriatic Acid). Divide the total amount into three or four doses and add at least 8 hrs. apart. I did mine one day at a time. Seemed a lot easier that way. Add the first third of Optimizer by broadcasting it across the pool. Brush it up when you're done. Now wait an hour and add the first third of the Lo N' Slo or acid. Let it circulate for at least 8 hrs. before adding the next dose. Once you're done, you will have the most amazing pool! It has the "silk" in it to make it silky soft, clarifiers to give the pool that "sparkle", and it eats plankton that the algae feeds off, so it keeps the algae away and you end up spending about 1/3 less than normal on chlorines! All of our chlorine sticks and pucks and Smart Shock have more of this product in it, so it helps keep the levels up. Of course, if you have a leaks or it rains buckets all year, you may have to top it off a little, but you'll never have to use the full amount again. I have trouble getting my chlorine level to come down! I can use Smart Shock in my pool and NEVER have to worry about needing a stronger shock.
